ABOUT ROBBYN THE PHOTOGRAPHER
I spent my 9th Halloween dressed as a camera, took my first
black and white photography class at the age of 15 with my future (now)
husband and enjoyed running my own home-based studio where I specialized in
hand-tinted B&W portraiture in my 30’s.
I didn’t really hit my stride in the realm of photography
until making the change to digital in 1999. It has opened a new world to me. No
longer are my creative juices stymied by the need to rely on outside labs,
worrying about strangely colored prints and scratched negatives. From conception
to printing, the creative process is now entirely my own and is a source of
great satisfaction.
What I enjoy photographing is not so much the
subject matter as it is the objective process in recording it. If it’s for my
own pleasure then I suppose it’s the art of capturing the subtle beauty of
everyday life that often goes unnoticed. If it’s for a client it’s the challenge
of creating images that express the client’s desires, intentions and
expectations.
